I used to think of seconds like coins (change). Nobody’s really lookin’ for change when they have more than enough money. Let the well run dry, though – for even one second, and they’ll be shufflin’ through couch cushions, feelin’ under chairs, rummaging nightstand drawers, searchin’ dirty pants pockets & any other odd, yet sensible, place we tend to shove change.
Time passes & we don’t really give seconds a second thought. (Yeah, that word fun is intended. 😉 Word nerd, remember? :-)) They pass by, one…two…three – quickly. Throughout a, somewhat, “normal” individual’s day, seconds don’t seem to play a huge role.
Think about this: Meetings are scheduled on the hour or half-passed. Appointments, classes, weddings, parties – pretty much anything that needs to be scheduled – they’re all set on the hour or half-passed; maybe even by quarters (11:15am, 12:45pm). I’d venture to say; however, that you’ve not had an appointment scheduled to start at 11:30:35am. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
So, you see how little we think about seconds, by themselves? Standing alone they don’t seem too significant. Well, at least, not to the unknowing. (Ah, ha!) The truth is, though, that seconds are powerful carriers. They’re powerful carriers of change, hope, & atmospheric shifting.
In one second, your whole life can change. (I’m not goin’ down some dark, dank spiral of doom & gloom. Don’t worry! Just stick with me, here. Hehehehe!)
All it takes is one. All you need is one.
One. One second, one thought, one realization, one belief, one promise. Just one.
So, what is it? What is the one second that can change your whole life? Here it is! The one second that can change your whole life is: the one exact second when you understand that the very moment a second passes, it’s in the past.
Okay. Seconds. They’re, actually, super important. They’re not important because of the length of time designated to them, but it’s clear (to me) that they’re important because one can accomplish great things (mentally) in that time – a second.
In one second, you can change your mind. You can decide that you’re not going to continue in the same direction you were just facing [only a second prior]. You can choose to think differently – in one second. Decide – in one second – that you’re not going to be the same person you were – just a second ago.
Powerful, right? In one second, think of all you could do. Seconds don’t seem so small, now, huh?
Disclaimer: There’s a slight chance that my unique way of thinking might leave some of you in the rafters. If so, my apologies. I’m an abstract thinker, I suppose, & maybe my thoughts don’t always add up completely, but… Well, actually, at this moment, I can “hear” my husband telling me to stop apologizing for being me. So, okay – never mind. ROFL! 🙂
COMMENT below & let me know your thought on the topic. Had you ever thought about seconds like I describe them, here? Tell me about it. Don’t know what to make of it? Tell me that, too! It’ll only take a SECOND.
(Like what I did there???) 😉
